So the story goes like this... picture it... Leesburg, Florida... 14 Jun 05...
Laine and I drove over to Leesburg to the Harley place to pick up our friends Gabbi and Linda who were dropping off their bikes for some service and new parts. We were wandering around the store looking at everything and finally I decided I may as well get it over with and go look at the bikes for sale. I was thinking this because we had talked about getting a bike for years and its always sad to be around them and go home to a house with none in the yard. whoa is me... ho hum... I looked at a few and kept coming back to one I liked. I had to walk away before I crawled into a ball and wept profusely with the knowledge that I would go home without it as always...
We waited a bit for the arrangements of Gabbi and Linda's bikes to be done and as time went on we started talking about buying a bike ourselves. After much back and forth in my head and with Laine we said lets do it. Checking out the bikes we changed our minds with Gabbi and Linda's help and input and made arrangements for our newest baby to come home with us. So.. here she is... our newest... isn't she gorgeous... a 2004 883 XL Harley Sportster...

After many hours arranging the paperwork and all we had to do we headed over to Mt Dora for lunch and check out the shops... Here we are having lunch. <Laine is on the left, Linda is behind her, Gabbi is next to Linda and I am on the right> The feelings haven't hit yet.. omg... soon I will be riding a cycle again.

17 Jun 05: We had some accessories switched around to make things easier on me with the throttle and got rid of the ultra hard seat for a new softer one. Gator Harley was going to service the bike and we would be able to pick it up at the end of the week... Friday morning Gabbi, Linda and I drove over to get it. Seeing that I still have to get my motorcycle license Linda was so nice to drive it back to our home in Deland for me.
Here is my new baby.. all ready to go home...

I was so excited when they put together this league. Finally the girls have a chance to have a sports life outside of college. People need to support this league.. let it grow... These gals play their hearts out and get so much less from it financially but I think they are the better athletes than their men counterparts because they play for the love of the game more than the paycheck. |
